Snacking doesn’t always have to mean munching on junk foods. On the contrary, it can be a good way to supplement your diet with essential nutrients or provide the energy you need to get through your busy day. Being busy is not an excuse not to eat grab and go foods that are loaded with vitamins and nutrients that will keep you nourished and energized. Check out the following

Trail Mix

Trail mix is a perfect snack you can make yourself, so you can choose your preferred nuts, dried fruits and seeds. Nuts are loaded with healthy fats and protein to keep you fueled. Choose the best nuts such as heart-healthy walnuts or fiber-rich almonds. Add some naturally dried fruits such as cranberries or raisins. It is best to prepare your own trail mix rather than buy pre-packaged snacks.

Popcorn

Plain, air-popped popcorn is a healthy whole grain snack that is low in calorie and rich in antioxidants. It is better to prepare your own popcorn for it is easy to make. Popcorn sold at movie theatres or supermarkets are not healthy for they could be loaded with sugar, salt and unhealthy oil. By preparing your own, you can limit the salt and butter or add herbs.

Greek yogurt is a good choice for it contains twice the protein and half the sodium and carbohydrates than regular yogurt, aside from being creamier. It is versatile, for you can eat it plain, frozen or add some fruits to it. As a snack, you can also blend it with a fruit for a delicious and nutritious smoothie.
